Jesus Said ...

"Jesus said ..." We hear that a lot, don't we? And for good reasons. I mean, how else would we know how to live the Christian life without some kind of voice to listen to? To be sure, Jesus' words are essential to our faith, for they are the instructions we need to build a strong relationship with God.

Therefore, it is important that we hear what He has to say and then do it. The epistle of James says, "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it sayd. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that give freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it -- he will be blessed in what he does. -- James 1:22-25 NIV

Those last seven words should encourage us to hear and heed what Jesus says. And one of the most important sayings of Jesus is found in Matthews 25:31-46 For it is in this particular text that Jesus says, "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."

On behalf of all of those with whom I served on the Kairos Prison Ministry Team, thank you for your obedience to the words of Jesus. Your prayers, cookies and overall support of this valuable ministry helped 36 troubled souls, four of whom made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ, to experience the love of God in ways they never had before. Needless to say, it was an awesome weekend, and I want you to celebrate the fact that even though you were not there physically or in body, we felt your presence in a might way. And thank the Lord for your care and concern for those who rarely, if ever, get to participate in something so powerful and productive.

To be sure, your labors of love will be remembered by most, if not all, whom Jesus describes as the "least" among our society. Thanks for hearing and heeding Jesus' voice and for making me proud of your efforts in help;ing make this Kairos experience such a blessing to the inmates and team members. Trinity provided about 1,000 cookies for Christ and signed up for 20 hours of prayer!

With Love from Jesus,

Pastor Davie
