The Greatest NEED!

The Apostle Paul said it best when he said, "There are three things that endure: Faith, Hope, and LOVE, and the greatest of these is LOVE." In saying this, Paul was speaking to a city that had become tremendously corrupt. As a result of the moral downfall of Corinth, the meaning of LOVE had been misconstrued or confused. This makes me think of the present day in America. For many in our society seem to have a misunderstanding about what LOVE really means. We say, "I LOVE ice cream." or "I LOVE chocolate candy." or "I LOVE peanut butter and jelly sandwiches." or "I LOVE sports." or "I LOVE shopping." To be sure, we don't love our spouse, and surely not God, like we do ice cream, chocolate candy or peanut butter and jelly!

Someone once said, "LOVE talked about is easily ignored. LOVE demonstrated is irresistible." As the Bible confirms, "God demonstrated His LOVE towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) Yes, true LOVE was demonstrated by Christ when He went to Calvary and offered His own flesh and blood for your sins and mine. This being so, can any of us afford to resist such a LOVE?

As we celebrate our LOVE for others this Valentine's Day, let us not forget the real meaning and power of LOVE. And let's continue to make it our goal to cultivate LOVING RELATIONSHIPS among all those we meet and come in contact with. WHY? Because there is no greater need than the need to LOVE and to be LOVED!

With LOVE From JESUS,

Pastor David

Memory Verse: John 15:13 "Greater LOVE has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (NIV)
