Home, Sweet, Home

My favorite movie of all times is the "Wizard of Oz." Watching this movie for the first time is one of my most cherished childhood memories. It's one of the few movies that I care to watch more than once. I especially like the part when Dorothy is standing on the "yellow brick road" tapping her "pretty red shoes" together, repeating the words, "There's no place like home." I don't think that I have ever seen a more dramatic homecoming than Dorothy's. She was one excited young lady, to say the least.

As I recall my memories of this beloved move, I think of a more recent homecoming that I will cherish for the rest of my life. It happened on Friday, September 15, 2006. Not only was this my son's 20th birthday, it was also the day my family moved back into our home and your parsonage. What a "hallelujah moment" that was! God only knows how happy Annie, Jonathan, Joshua and myself were on that blessed day. And trust me, that happiness continues to grow, as we get things more organized. Or should I say, as Annie gets things more organized. (By the way, in case you haven't heard, Elizabeth has flown the coop. She now resides in Lexington. You go girl!)

Annie and I look forward to hosting you at our "new home" and your "new parsonage." Our plans are to have a Drop-In on Sunday, December 3. Hopefully, by then, we will have all the boxes unpacked, pictures hung, etc. Until such time, we want to thank everybody for your prayers and patience during these past 15 weeks. We especially want to thank the Staff/Parish Relations Committee, Trustees, and all the others who have helped us to better understand the fact that "There's no place like home! No, there's no place like home!!" And if "home is where the heart is", then my heart is at 1512 Cardinal Drive, West Columbia, South Carolina, 29169!

With Love From and For JESUS,

Pastor David
