"Let's Go to Church!"

How important is it for us to go to church? How important is it for us to fellowship with the Body of Christ? As you seriously think about these questions, read the following story taken from the Our Daily Bread Devotional Book. (September Edition 2003).

"A minister was concerned about the absence of a man who normally attended services at the church. After being absent for several weeks, the pastor decided to pay him a visit. When the pastor arrived at the home, he found the man all alone, sitting in front of the fireplace. The minister then pulled up a chair and sat down beside him.

The two men sat there in silence for a few minutes while they both stared at the flames in the fireplace. After awhile the minister took the tongs and carefully picked up one of the burning coals from the fire and placed it on the hearth. He sat back down, still silent. The man he was visiting watched in quiet reflection as the ember slowly began to stop burning. Before long it was cold and dead.

Just before the minister had to go, he placed the cold ember back into the fire. Immediately it began to glow again as it made contact with the other burning coals. As the minister was leaving, his host shook his hand and with a smile on his face, he said, "Thanks for the sermon, pastor. I'll see you in church on Sunday."

The Bible admonishes us to spend time with the Body of Christ. In Hebrews 10:25 we read these encouraging words, "Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of His coming back is drawing near." (NLT)

It is so important for our spiritual growth and overall well-being to stay in contact and constant communication with our Trinity Church Family. Therefore, Let's Go to Church as regularly as possible. And for those who can't for health reasons, etc., let's take the church to them. "For the warm fellowship of the Church will keep your heart from growing cold."

In His Grace,

Pastor David
