Back to School!

A six year-old boy came home dejected from his first day at school and announced, "I'm not going to school tomorrow!" "Why not?" inquired his mother. The boy answered, "I can't read, I can't write, and they won't let me talk---so what's the use?"

I share this cute little story because, even though the weather doesn't think so, summer is just about over, or at least it is for those who have to go back to school. Yes, it's time to dust off the old book bags and go shopping for those high price calculators and other supplies that are needed.

To be sure, some of you are asking, "My, my, where did the these last couple of months go to?" While others of you, like the little boy, are wondering, "What's the use?" That "little boy" was me at one time, especially when I was called into the ministry and had to go back to college after being out of high school for almost 15 years. I just didn't feel like I was up for the task, but, praise God, I finally got over it. How? Prayer! My own and that of others. (Somebody say, "AMEN!"),

As one of those whose education is a product of prayer, I invite and encourage you to pray, especially, for the ones who are gearing up for the new school year and are wondering, "What's the use?" Pray also for the teachers, administrators and all who care for our beloved children and work hard to prepare them for the future. Why? Because, as Christians, we have a God-given responsibility to show our love for these who are our hope for tomorrow, and what better way to do so than with prayer. And on behalf of every child and young adult who struggle with going back to school, I say, "Thank You!" Thank you for your prayers and support!

With Love from Jesus,

Pastor David
