GOD Can and GOD Will!

Few would argue against the fact that Abraham is one of the most heroic and famous persons mentioned in the Bible. If there is any doubt, then just check out how many times his name is referred to in the book of Genesis alone. (I quit counting after 67, and that was only through chapter 22.) Trust me, Abraham was a popular man back in his day.

One of the reasons for Abraham's popularity is the story about his son, Isaac, being taken to Mt. Moriah to be sacrificed. I have read and reread that story many times and every time it humbles me, while it also challenges me. How could a father consider doing such a thing to his child, let alone seek to carry it out?

Obviously, this was not the first time that Abraham had been tested, and many of those times, I'm quite sure, had to do with being a parent. But be that as it may, Abraham's trust in God grew stronger and stronger as a result. And that's the reason that Abraham was able to take Isaac up the mountain to be sacrificed.

As those of us know, who have been blessed with such an awesome responsibility, nothing tests our faith more than raising our children. In fact, the only way a mother or a father can survive such a task is to "let go and let God" guide them in that life-long process. But to do so takes faith. Therefore, since this is the case, don't be afraid to trust the Lord to help you in raising your son or daughter. I'm sure Abraham wasn't and the reason is because he knew, GOD can and GOD will!

With Love, From and for Jesus,

Pastor David
